Slater Hall, like its companion, Rienow, was built in the late 1960s and houses both men and women and is located on Grand Avenue. Slater was named for a past UI football player who became a federal judge--Fred "Duke" Slater. All rooms are air conditioned and most are doubles, housing 499 students.
